Well she runs and drives! Spent this evening putting all the seatbox, seats and floors back in.
Went for a very cautious run around the block, put some fuel in, and then did a 10 mile run. Only two problems that became apparent were an oil leak from a pipe union. This stopped when I tightened it up a bit, and a leaking radiator cap.
She runs fantastic. Very smooth and quiet, and has much more pulling power. I have to do 500 miles running in, so will be going for a long drive at the weekend.
The original (rebuilt) gearbox is also very good. The box is quiet, although a bit notchy to change gear. I suspect that this due to all the new bearings and bits that need to bed in.
It is much better to have the proper box for the vehicle. The 1st and 2nd gears are much lower geared on this box. It makes it much easier to pull away. 1st gear is also very quiet now compared with the series 2 box that I was using.
Only job to do now is to refit the new front propshaft before she can go for a play in the mud.
